WALKERS are being urged to step out for a 25 mile charity walk from Weymouth on Saturday.

The annual Hangers Heroes Challenge Walk starts from West Fleet Holiday Farm near Weymouth and is in aid of Stella Hayward Riding for the Disabled, Dorset Search and Rescue, Friends of the MV Freedom and The Front Skate Park. Nina and Roger Hanger, of the Hangers Heroes fundraising group, organise the event every year.

Nina said: “The walk covers a 25 mile course which takes in some of Dorset’s most beautiful countryside.

“There are regular stop-off points, with a break for lunch and a ‘something and chips’ waiting for our walkers at the end.

“Everyone is welcome.”

A 12.5 mile walk is also available and both walks are open to people of all ages who are reasonably fit.

Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Lunch will be provided for all participants halfway near Hardy’s Monument. Sharon and Graham Rose have completed the walk every year since 1992. Sharon, 46, said that the event is a firm tradition in the Rose household.

“Even when my husband broke his leg a few years ago and couldn’t manage the walk, he still took part as a marshal.

“Our two boys have also completed the course for the past four years with us.

“It’s a really fantastic day out that does so much for Dorset based charities.”

Tickets are £10 and are available from 01305 784995.
