Shop wins title of favourite chippy

First published in News

ENJOY a free portion of fish and chips to celebrate a Weymouth chippy being crowned the nation’s favourite.

Staff at Alf’s Fish and Chips on Lynch Lane will be giving away free fish and chips to the value of £500 on Tuesday, September 18 from 5pm.

Alf’s won the title of Britain’s Favourite Family Chippy 2012, beating off stiff competition to claim the prize.

The awards are hosted by Ben Shaws, the nostalgic soft drinks brand, which runs the competition annually to find outstanding family-run chip shops across Britain that truly make a difference in their communities.

Alf’s was lauded for its work raising money for hospitals and providing food vouchers to various schools and charities.

Tell the truth, that never happened did it? You are just trying to promote a really poor over priced fish and chip shop.

Gotta say I've had chips from there and they were awful! They were cold and generally very poor. As for the batter well.........greasy doesn't come close. I have found this on two occassions and therefore would not eat from there again. (even for free) I appreciate all their fantastic contributions towards the charities and local communities and commend them highly on their input to the community (which is a rare thing now a days) but whoever judges these awards need their head testing.

I personally ain't neva had fish n chips from Alfs for over 35 years. But If his Food is anything like his Brother Steve's who own the Codfather Chippie in Weston Road. He also serves lastnights /lunchtimes leftovers at the next opening. He had the audacitty to serve my mrs leftover Cod one Friday and then when she tackled him over it he blatantly lied to her. The Fish was Dry and awful and you needed a road drill to get the batter off.
cyril why don't you try and say something positive about someone or something instead of always slagging other peoples post off. Are you of minor intelligence or even downright STUPID ? I agree the Marlboro is 2nd to none in fact it's the Dog's Mating Equipment
