A MUM has been reunited with a camera full of precious Weymouth holiday memories.

Holidaymaker Laura Gwynn-Costello thought she would never get her camera back after losing it during a family break in the resort.

Following an appeal in the Echo, a Weymouth taxi driver came forward with the camera, which he found while cleaning out his car.

Laura, 34, of Lower Kingswood, Surrey, said: “This taxi driver has restored my faith in human nature.

“It’s absolutely brilliant that he found it. I’d like to say ‘thank you very much’ to him.”

Among the precious photos on the camera are pictures of Laura’s daughter Daisy riding a pony for the first time and pictures of the family swimming, crabbing and exploring in Weymouth.

Laura stayed at the Haven Sea View holiday park in Weymouth for four nights with her husband David, 34, and children Ben, 6, and Daisy, 2.

She realised she had left her white Sony cyber shot camera in Weymouth when she returned home to Surrey.

She said: “I was absolutely gutted and completely devastated when I realised.

“I didn’t care about the camera. It was a brand new £200 camera and this was our special holiday.

“We hadn’t had a holiday in two years.

“This was our big holiday and we made the most of it.

“We did so much and created so many memories and I really thought they were lost.”

Bee Cars driver Martin Mills, 51, drove Laura and her family from the holiday park to Dorchester on the last day of their stay.

He said: “I was cleaning the taxi out and I found this camera under the footwell.

“My dad gets the Echo every day and saves them up for me to read.

“I saw the article with the appeal for the camera in it when I read an old copy recently.”

Weymouth resident Martin said he often comes across lost items in his taxi.

“Lots of stuff has been left in here over the years, I’ve had camcorders and all sorts.

“Quite recently I had some glasses left in here. I always try and get stuff back to people.”

Laura and David, a self-employed engineer, say they will definitely return to Weymouth.

Laura said: “I couldn’t have found the camera without contacting the Echo.

“I don’t think I would get that service in Surrey.

“Everyone has been so friendly and helpful.

“There is such amazing hospitality and we will definitely come back.”
