A POWERBOAT driver has died following a crash during a high-speed race in Weymouth Bay yesterday.
Mike Lovell, 27, died in Southampton General Hospital overnight.
His navigator, Dan Whapples, is in a serious but stable condition.
A statement released by race organisers said: “Our thoughts are with the whole powerboat community and particularly with Mike and Dan's family and friends.”
Please leave your tributes here to Mr Lovell.

Sadly, we read Mike Lovell has lost his fight for life, despite the fact a S.W. Ambulance Paramedic treated him in the Coastguard helicoptor enroute to Southampton.
We can only hope and pray Dan Whapples makes a speedy recovery.
To Mike, RIP mate.
