WALKERS trekked in memory of a Weymouth man when they undertook a charity challenge.
Faye Bartlett organised the walk from the Heights Hotel on Portland to Dorchester town centre as a tribute to her dad Ray.
A number of her friends and her brother Luke joined in and together they raised £2,000 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
Motorcyclist Ray Bartlett was killed by a drink-driver on the Weymouth to Bridport coast road last year.
Determined to make her dad proud and do something for a good cause, 20-year-old Faye organised the walk.
She also wanted to raise awareness about the heartbreaking impact drink driving can have on families.
The finishing point of the 13.7-mile trek was Thomson travel agents, the workplace of Faye’s friend Sophie Bryant, who took part in the walk.
Childcare practitioner Faye said she wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part.
She added: “We were all really happy with the time we made it in. We set off at 9am and got to Dorchester just before 2pm.
“Thank you to all the passers-by who put their loose change in the buckets and to everyone who sponsored us and to my employers, Little Firs day nursery, who gave a very generous donation. Also to my dad’s employers, Aquarium Technology Ltd. The employees chipped in and that meets a lot.”
Faye, of Lanehouse, said she was now thinking of a walk for next year.
