A FLEDGLING Weymouth maternity clothing firm has struck a bumper deal with a supermarket giant.

Heavenly Bump clothing is now on sale in Tesco’s online store.

The deal will give the Oxford Court firm run by Amy-Kate Crane and Kirsty van Deurs Goss the potential to grow by a third.

Mrs Crane said: “We went and had meetings with Tesco and they told us that they think our stuff is going to be perfect for the Tesco customer.

“This has been one of the most exciting weeks of my life. This is potentially going to be huge.”

Mrs van Deurs Goss said she was delighted to hear of Tesco’s interest.

“I remember driving into work thinking ‘our brand is being sold by one of the biggest companies in the world,” she said.

A range of autumn and winter clothing has gone live on tesco.com and Mrs Crane and Mrs van Deurs Goss will meet with Tesco chiefs in November to discuss a line of spring and summer clothing.

The businesswomen were colleagues at the Weymouth offices of New Look and set up a company together when their jobs were relocated to London.

Their clothing has been available on New Look’s website for a year and a wider range will be exclusive to Tesco.

Both women say they have come a long way since they set up the business just over two years ago.

They have taken on a freelance merchandiser Matthew Charlton and an apprentice from Weymouth College.

Mrs Crane said: “We have got that push, push, push attitude.

“We worked so hard for New Look and it’s rubbed off on us.

“It’s made us the way we are and determined to succeed.

“We’ve shown that you don’t have to be based in London to be a successful company.”

The pair have scooped the New Business award at the Women In Business Awards 2011, a gold award in the Practical Parenting and Pregnancy magazine last year and Business of the Year and the Retailer and Customer Service awards at Open 4 Business 2011.

The next step for Heavenly Bump will be making more progress in the international market, launching a swimwear range, a plus size range and an affordable fashion range.
