POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured in a hit and run collision near Wareham.
The local man was pedalling in the direction of Wareham on the A352 when the collision occurred.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “A road traffic collision occurred at East Stoke.
“A pedal cyclist, a local man in his thirties, was travelling from the Stokeford Inn towards Wareham and came into contact with a vehicle.
“He sustained serious injuries but the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.
“He was taken to hospital.”
Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the accident, which occurred at 6.10am this morning, to come forward.
The spokesman said: “Anyone with information or who saw the vehicles before the accident or witnessed the collision should get in contact with the police.”
