THREE senior women clerics from the Salisbury Diocese are to preach at monthly services of Choral Evensong at St Mary’s Church in Bridport. The series of sermons will mark the ministry of women in the church. They are part of celebrations for the 350th anniversary of the Book of Common Prayer.

The clerics are Canon Nerissa Jones, the Very Rev June Osborne and Canon June Charman.

Canon Jones will preach about Mary of Bethany on Sunday, October 7. Recently retired, she was Rector of Askerswell, Loders, Powerstock and Symondsbury.

The Very Rev Osborne will preach on Lydia of Philippi on Sunday, November 4. She has been Dean of Salisbury Cathedral since 2004 and previously was Canon Treasurer. Canon Charman will preach on Mary of Magdela on Sunday, December 2.

She is Diocesan Director of Learning for Discipleship and Ministry. She is a non-residentiary Canon of Salisbury Cathedral and a member of The Church of England General Synod.

Each of the monthly services of Choral Evensong is at 4pm with the Choir of St Mary's Parish Church directed by Peter Jezard.
