Lawrences’ 2200-lot Autumn Fine Art auction goes on view tomorrow and will offer a vast variety of items across three full days of auctions.
The silver section on October 9 includes a pair of Charles I seal top spoons, made by Robert Jugges of London in 1630 (£5000-7000) as well as a collection of vesta cases in all shapes and sizes.
Highlights in the jewellery section on October 11 include a Burmese ruby and gold hinged bracelet (£3000-4000) and a stunning gold necklet set with tiger’s claws (£2000-2500).
The Ceramics and Oriental selection later the same day offers a collection of twenty seven items of Troika pottery, made in Cornwall in designs influenced by Barbara Hepworth and Ben Nicholson (estimates from £70 to £200).
A Japanese bronze figure of a pikeman carries an estimate of £1200-1600.
Highlight of the final day on October 12th is expected to be a superb oil painting by John William Godward entitled “Summer Idleness: Day Dreams” (£150,000-200,000).
A selection of pictures from a deceased estate includes works by Henry Moore, Lucien Pissarro, Duncan Grant, Alan Davie and Prunella Clough (estimates from £300-7000).
In the furniture section, a walnut seaweed marquetry long case clock by R. Haughtin of Fetter Lane is expected to make £2500-3000 and an exotic wood specimen cabinet has dozens of hardstone tablets set into the doors (£800-1200).
