HAVING FUN: Youngsters at the autumn festival
YOUNGSTERS were among the crowds to enjoy an Autumn Festival at Allington Hill in Bridport.
The Allington Hillbillies staged the event after scooping funds to develop a play trail at the beauty spot.
Co-ordinator Cathy Harvey said: “It was a great success.
“The evening was started by Impromptu Jazz band who wanted to help support the volunteer group raise funds for the Allington play trail.
“A couple of hundred people turned up to the event.
“The children had great fun getting muddy making wild seed bombs.”
Volunteer Toby Beer, aged eight, led the children to Jubilee Wood where they threw the bombs to sew a display of wild flowers for next year.
Children also made wicker lanterns, which they later paraded around Jubilee Wood, with Jade Beer, aged 10, leading the way.
As they came back to the festival site the bonfire was lit and everyone tucked into BBQ food prepared by the volunteers.
Cathy said: “With previous money gifted from Allington Parish Council and from West Bay Car boot fund, this means that we can install the first phase of the play trail on Allington Hill.
“The children have worked so hard to raise this money and are now very excited about seeing it installed.”
