A TEENAGER was taken to hospital with leg injuries after a hit and run crash in north Dorset.

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after the collision between a pedestrian and a silver Peugeot 307 car in Gillingham.

The crash occurred near to Legends nightclub at approximately 3.30am yesterday.

The driver of the vehicle left the scene without stopping.

The pedestrian, a 19-year-old Wiltshire man, suffered leg injuries and was taken to Yeovil Hospital.

Detective Constable Simon Beare, of Western CID, said: “The Peugeot would have sustained damage in the collision.

“I would encourage anyone with information, which may identify the driver or the vehicle, and anyone who might have seen the vehicle to contact Dorset Police.

“I am appealing for anyone who has witnessed the incident or has any information about the collision to please call the police as soon as possible.

“I would also urge the driver in question to do the right thing and speak with the police.

“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
