Promising to make a difference for illness
10:00am Tuesday 9th October 2012 in News
AN AUCTION of promises will be held in Dorchester to celebrate World Mental Health Day.
The event is organised by the national charity Rethink Mental Illness, with all money raised going to services provided by the charity in Dorset and Somerset.
Pauline Sparks, from the charity, said: “Some people with mental illness feel lonely and are afraid to talk about their problems.
“We wanted to host this event to show them that they’re not alone, and that there’s help out there.”
The charity aims to help people suffering from problems such as depression and schizophrenia, by teaching them life skills.
The auction, which includes items such as a round of golf for four people, spa vouchers, jewellery and food hampers, is at the Corn Exchange from 7pm tomorrow.
