THE Brit Valley Rotary Club has been awarded a bronze pennant from ShelterBox for raising £13,000.

The club, which covers Bridport and west Dorset, has collected enough cash to buy 25 ShelterBoxes.

Spokesman Ian Ibbotson said: “This award is not just for our Rotary Club but for our community here around Bridport and all the people and organisations who have raised money and made donations through us to ShelterBox.

“ShelterBox provide emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world affected by disasters, at the time when they need it the most.”

The club has raised money and held a variety of events to collect the cash for the special ShelterBoxes.

It also helps out at community events, such as the Bridport Carnival torchlight parade and holds talks for its members.

Dr Evelyne O’Hare talked about her role as an animal chiropractor in the most recent talk at Haddon House Hotel in West Bay.
