A NEW project aimed at tackling discrimination has been launched to mark World Mental Health Day.

Dorset HealthCare launched the new Tea and Talk project yesterday.

The project has been given a £40,000 ‘Time to Change’ grant to help break down the barriers and discrimination around mental health stigma and discrimination.

The project will be bringing people with and without mental health problems talking together over tea and cakes.

Plans for the project include delivering over 100 Tea and Talk workshops to employers and schools across the county to get people talking about the issue, tackling stigma and promoting mental wellbeing.

The Weymouth and Portland Community Resource Team, which is part of the mental health team at Dorset HealthCare, has been running activities as part of patient recovery.

An exhibition of the work entitled ‘At the water’s edge’ will be shown at the Mulberry Gallery at Weymouth Library.
