A DIVING company and an instructor have been fined following the death of a diver off Portland.
Bristol Crown Court heard how inexperienced diver Janek Karon, who had serious medical conditions, died during a weekend of recreational dives between October 18 and 19 2008.
The court heard how Subaquaholics Ltd failed in its duty of care towards him.
The company was fined £10,000 after pleading guilty to breaching Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
Diving instructor Ian Johnson, of Bristol, pleaded guilty as dive supervisor to breaching Regulation 10 (1) of the Diving at Work Regulations 1997 for both Mr Karon and his daughter Emma and was fined £5,000.
Costs in both cases will be decided at a later hearing.
