A 13-YEAR-OLD girl was taken to hospital after breaking her leg at a quarry on Portland.
Emergency services were called to Perryfield Quarry, in Easton, on Sunday afternoon after receiving a 999 call from a person on a mobile phone.
Ambulance crews arrived on scene at around 3pm and the coastguard was also called out around 15 minutes later the help the paramedics lift the teenager from the quarry into a waiting ambulance.
A Portland Coastguard spokesman said: “At 3.17pm we were called to Perryfield Quarry on Portland and assisted paramedics by lifting a 13-year-old girl with an open fracture by stretcher to the ambulance.”
The girl was taken to Dorset County Hospital with an open leg fracture.
A spokesman for Dorset Ambulance Service said: “We got a 999 call at 2.58pm on Sunday of a female with a fractured leg in a quarry near Tesco on Portland.
“Two vehicles were sent down to the scene and the girl was taken to Dorset County Hospital.”
