WEST Dorset artist Kit Glaisyer is exhibiting at the Royal West of England Academy’s annual autumn exhibition in Bristol.

His painting Path up Lewesdon Hill will be on display in the showcase from October 21 to December 30.

Artists from around the country submit works for the exhibition with seven prizes awarded for works in different categories.

Kit said: “In my paintings I try to capture the subtleties of this unique corner of Wessex and also to bring a contemporary twist to the traditional genre of the romantic landscape.

“I’m really excited to be showing my new work to a wider audience at this major exhibition.”

Kit was born and grew up in Dorset before moving to London in the 1990s. He moved to Bridport in 1998.

He published the book Twenty-five Bridport Painters and Sculptors in 2010 and is now working on a book on contemporary landscape painting.

He is also co-director of Bridport Open Studios, and co-chairman of the Spirit of Bridport.

His studio is open from 11am to 4pm every Saturday at the St Michael’s Studio complex.
