Dorset residents are being encouraged to get safe online as part of an awareness campaign.
Next week, (Oct 22- 26) is Get Safe Online Week, which is being supported by Dorset Police after Dorset’s Community Safety Survey revealed residents were concerned about internet-related financial crime which includes online fraud and phishing scams.
This year, Get Safe Online Week is using the strap line ‘Click and tell’. The aim is to encourage people to visit www.getsafeonline.org, pick up some tips and pass them on.
People will be able to get advice on protecting their computer, fraud prevention, shopping online, using smartphones safely and keeping children safe online via the website.
The police will be giving out tips for staying safe on the internet through their Twitter account @dorsetpolice. Anyone who believes they have been a victim of online crime should call Dorset Police on 101.
