MEMBERS of the Birdsmoorgate branch of the Royal British Legion will be among those at a Remembrance Sunday in Thorncombe on November 11.

Chairman Ron Chiverton said: “This year is a most momentous one for the branch.

“For the first time we have invited representatives from organisations within the parishes of Thorncombe and Marshwood to join us on Remembrance Sunday when we parade our standard.”

The service will be at St Mary’s Church in Thorncombe and will start at 10.30am. Afterwards, the congregation will gather around the war memorial in the churchyard for the laying of wreaths by representatives from the parish council, the Birdsmoorgate branch of the RBL, St Mary’s Church and Thorncombe School.

Some branch members and the standard bearer will then go to Marshwood War Memorial.

At 12.30pm, wreaths will be laid by representatives for the Upper Marshwood Vale Parish Council, the Birdsmoorgate branch, St Mary’s the Virgin Marshwood Church and Marshwood School.

Mr Chiverton said that all are welcome at any stage in the proceedings
