THE Portland Rocks community music project is set to make a comeback and this time it can cater for children of all ages.

Now boasting a new status as a community interest company (CIC), the project will be celebrating its return with a launch event next month.

Director Martyn Mullender said: “Because of the time taken to set up the CIC we have not run workshops yet this term but we launch again on November 12, resuming our Monday night workshops.

“Because we are a CIC we can now offer music making to children aged eight to 18, a broader range than available under our previous funding.

“Although we cannot offer our services completely free, it will be very affordable for families.”

Portland Rocks meet every Monday night at the Islanders Club, East Weares Road from 5.30 to 7.30pm during term time.

Mr Mullender added: “A major development for us is that we are working in partnership with Dorset Music Services (DMS). Our Monday night sessions are substantially funded by DMS.”
