THE entire first series of Broadchurch is to be shown again on national television.

As filming for the second series gets underway, ITV have announced the West Dorset-set drama will be shown in four two-hour blocks on the new ITV channel Encore, which will launch on Monday, June 9.

The channel has been launched to celebrate the best of British television drama, and Broadchurch will be its flagship programme, with the smash-hit show screened over the channel’s first four nights.

Created by Bridport-based writer Chris Chibnall, the crime drama was a huge hit on our television screens, averaging more than nine million viewers as the country tuned in to find out who killed Danny Latimer.

To celebrate the launch of the channel and the re-showing of Broadchurch, David Tennant and Olivia Colman have also both given a video interview.

Filmed with ITV, the interview will be shown over five parts and shows both Tennant, who played DI Alec Hardy and Colman, who played DS Ellie Miller, talk about the first series, why they love it and why they think the show was so well received by the nation.

During the interview, Tennant said: “I defy you not to be gripped by it (the show), because we all were when the scripts were coming out.

“I was very honoured to be a part of this cast.”

Colman added: “It’s gripping, it’s upsetting and you get sucked into it.”

Broadchurch fever is again gripping the nation, following the news of the star-studded cast and that filming has started for the show’s second series.

Both David Tennant and Olivia Colman will return for the second series, along with other original cast members Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and Arthur Darvill.

They will be joined by new additions such as Hollywood legend Charlotte Rampling, James D’Arcy, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Eve Myles and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
