A YOUNG rapper will make sound waves when he performs in front of thousands at three festivals this summer.

Isaiah Dreads, aged 15 from Dorchester, will appear at Best-ival, Camp Best-ival and Glaston-bury after wowing organisers with his music.

The rapper, real name Isaiah Hamilton, was awarded a place on stage at Glastonbury’s Silver Hayes Dance Village after reaching the finals of the Emerging Talent Competition 2013.

Mum Amanda Sappleton said: “Considering they had 12,000 entries and he made it to the final eight, he’s done amazingly well.

“He writes all his own music.

“Every day, writing and recording is what he does. He lives for it.

“We’re hoping that this is the start of great things to come.”

Isaiah, formerly known as Lil Dreads, began writing lyrics aged seven and was booked in to his first studio session at nine years old.

He cites a ‘mix of music’ as his inspiration but says his work is influenced by events in his life.

When Isaiah was 12, he won a government competition to help stop knife crime and was named ‘Freestyle King.’ Since then he has released four free records, been the warm-up act for rapper Devlin and has appeared in the national press.

Last month he wowed crowds as the warm-up for grime group Man Like Me in Southampton and is now busy working on his next record and preparing for a busy summer.

This year Glastonbury Festival will be headlined by the Rolling Stones.

Elton John will appear at Bestival and 80s favourites Heaven 17, The Proclaimers and Nik Kershaw will be on stage at Camp Bestival.

Isaiah said: “It is a really good thought knowing I will be performing at three festivals this year, which hold some of the most well-known and established artists in the world.

“I can’t wait until I can get on stage and introduce more and more people to my music.”

Isaiah’s next record will be available to download on iTunes.
