A WEYMOUTH couple were married on a cruise.
Duane, the only son of Mr and Mrs Martin Barber, of Weymouth and Tara, the daughter of Mrs Downer, of Portland, tied the knot on December 22 on the P&O Oceana ship as it sailed between Lisbon and Casablanca.
The happy couple were married by the Captain, Andrew Willard, in the Captain’s lounge.
The couple, who live in Abbotsbury Road in Weymouth, met through work a few years ago, as Tara is a driver for Dorset Auto Spares and Duane is the manager of Crescent Auto Centre Garage in Weymouth.
Along with close family, the couple took the 10 day cruise from Southampton to Morocco. The day of the wedding was one of the only sunny days they had as force nine gales blew.
But despite the weather the couple had a fantastic time.
Mother of the groom Mrs Barber said: “It was really beautiful – absolutely brilliant.”
She added that it was a lovely day and they were ‘very proud’ of the couple.
A reception for all their friends and family was held after their return.
