A WOMAN is stepping down after three years as the chairman of a West Dorset group.
Jenny Maylon will be stepping down as the chairman of the Bridport and District University of the Third Age at the annual general meeting in April.
Members are elected to roles for a certain amount of time and, after three years, Mrs Maylon’s tenure as chairman came to an end.
A spokesman for the Bridport and District University of the Third Age said that Mrs Maylon had done a ‘fantastic job’.
She said: “She was on the initial steering committee when we started and she willingly stood as chairman.
“She’s done a fantastic job.
“We are reluctant to lose her as chairman and need a replacement.
“She’s very happy and a friend to everybody and very industrious. She’s a really good figure head for the group.”
She added that Mrs Maylon would still continue to be a member of the group.
The club is currently looking for a new chairman, as well as a new vice chairman and publicity officer.
The group is the fastest growing University of the Third Age group in the South West and has just signed up its 350th member.
