A COUPLE who have battled through an ‘emotional rollercoaster’ of a year after losing one of their premature twins are celebrating some welcome good news.

Tim Elliott, 38, and Michelle O’Neil, 27, are both from Wool and got engaged at Marwell Zoo in Hampshire, the day after Valentine’s Day.

Tim decorated the giraffe enclosure at the zoo with banners and got down on one knee to ask Michelle to tie the knot.

Staff at the zoo helped to arrange the special surprise after speaking to Tim.

Mr Elliott said: “Michelle was delighted with the surprise and I wanted to decorate the giraffe enclosure with banners because giraffes are her favourite animals.

“We went to Southampton for a surprise on Valentine’s Day where I took Michelle out for a meal, then went to Marwell Zoo the next day.

“We can’t wait to get going on the wedding plans and are really looking forward to it.”

The good news comes after the couple welcomed premature twins into the world on March 3, 2013.

Blossom Elliott, pictured left with the couple, and her twin Melodee were born prematurely at 25 weeks.

Tragically, Melodee passed away at just 15 days old due to an infection in her lungs.

She weighed one pound and nine ounces while Blossom was even smaller, weighing one pound and four ounces.

Blossom has beaten all the odds to celebrate her first birthday recently and has been given the middle name of Melodee to always have a part of her sister with her.

The couple also held a birthday party for Blossom recently and released balloons in memory of Melodee.
