A COUPLE who first met at a Dorchester pub chose a venue with traditional sweeping sea views for their wedding.

Lucy Whitefield, 30, who lives in Poundbury in Dorchester, met 27-year-old mechanic Tom Symes, who also lives in Dorchester, at The George Inn pub in the county town.

One year later on Christmas Eve 2012, Tom proposed, and the happy couple tied the knot in October.

The wedding was held at The Riviera Hotel at Bowleaze Coveway after the couple attended a wedding fair and saw the coastal views from the Bay View room.

Lucy, who is a deputy manager at Summertime at Thomas Hardye Nursery, said: “Our wedding day was brilliant – we had such gorgeous weather the whole day and were able to take a walk along the beach and even had a photo taken in the amusements nearby.

“It was just perfect, The Riviera allowed us to spend a whole day at the venue because we wanted to do the wedding and reception in the same place.”

The happy couple celebrated with more than 80 members of their families and close friends, including three bridesmaids, Lucy’s nephew as page boy and Tom’s brother as best man.

Tom and Lucy also spent a couple of nights away in the UK for their honeymoon.
