A PORTLAND woman celebrated her 100th birthday with flowers, cards and happy memories.

Alexandra ‘Rose’ Price has certainly found the recipe for a long and happy life after celebrating her milestone birthday recently.

Mrs Price was joined by family and friends for a specially-arranged party at her home at Aster Living’s Ladymead Close sheltered housing scheme.

To mark her special birthday, Aster Living presented the birthday girl with flowers and a card wishing her many happy returns from all of the company’s Dorset-based staff.

Mrs Price, who was born on Portland and spent most of her life there, has lived at Ladymead since 1982.

Her son Colin, who is 81, also lives at the scheme in a flat above her.

As well as Colin, Rose has four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Colin said: “My mother still likes to get involved in lots of the activities at Ladymead and she loves the company of all her friends here.

“I don’t think it’s really sunk in for her that she’s 100 – myself and the rest of the family have mentioned it, but to her it’s just another birthday.”

Jackie Doran, area manager for Aster Living’s supported living team, said: “Rose is a lovely lady and an inspiration to us all.

“It’s great that she’s been able to enjoy such a special day with her family and friends around her.

“On behalf of everyone at Aster Living, I’d like to wish her a very happy birthday and congratulations on reaching such an incredible milestone.”
