CENTENARIAN Agnes Land celebrated her 100th birthday in style with friends, family, and staff at Castle View home in Poundbury.
Agnes received a ‘100’ birthday cake made by the home's head chef and she was joined by her great-grandchildren Tom, eight, and Evie, six, as well grandchildren Edward and Alice.
Dorchester Mayor Peter Mann attended her birthday party and presented a certificate and a book about Dorchester.
He also delivered a telegram and card from the Queen congratulating Agnes on reaching her landmark birthday.
Cllr Mann said: “Congratulations to Agnes on reaching such a milestone. She has done wonderfully and has a lovely family.”
Home manager Sarah Harper said that all the staff and residents wished Agnes many happy returns on turning 100.
Agnes, who worked for a pharmacist and didn’t retire until the age of 80, said her secret to a long life was’hard work’ as well as the odd glass of stout or tot of brandy.
“I worked for nine different landlords at a hotel, I was still at work when I was 80. It keeps you active,” she said.
