Charity champ
RED Cross
fundraiser Cyril
Bugler has notched up 65
years of charity collecting.
Cyril, from Beaminster, was
presented with an award during a ceremony in
recognition of his service to the charity.
Mr Bugler celebrated his 80th birthday last December
and raised an extra £491 for the Red Cross by asking
guests at his party to make a donation instead of buying
presents.
The money went to support local services, such as the
loan of wheelchairs and medical equipment, first aid
training and cover at public events and a skin
camouflage service for scarring and disfigurements.
Despite being the main carer for his disabled wife Vera,
Cyril still carries out street collections.
Angie Newing, who is area operations director for the
Red Cross, said: "Cyril Bugler has given a lifetime of
service to fundraising in Dorset.
"Through his efforts, thousands of people have been
helped over the years by a range of Red Cross services."
