SALISBURY Cathedral’s boy choristers will be revealing the secrets of their daily practice at a special gathering.
The cathedral’s director of music, David Halls, will put them through their musical paces at the meeting of the Friends of Cathedral Music on Saturday, January 17.
Event organiser, Ian Henderson, said: “Few sounds on Earth are more glorious than that of a cathedral choir singing the daily office.
“The Friends are a national charity whose joint aims are to secure the future heritage of cathedral music and encourage high standards in choral singing.
“One of the main purposes of this gathering on January 17 will be to introduce The Friends of Cathedral Music to those who are not members at present, so we are hoping to encourage everyone who loves cathedral music and is concerned for its future to come along.”
He added that current members and non-members will be equally welcome for the afternoon gathering.
The meeting will begin with a talk by the former director of music at Chichester Cathedral, Dr Alan Thurlow.
