THE last Holy Communion service to be led by The Rev Jim Thorneycroft at Radipole United Reformed Church will take place tomorrow. The church’s House Group will also begin work again as of Wednesday.

A UNITED benefice Eucharist will begin at 11.30am tomorrow at St Mary’s Church, Dorchester. The service will include first communion for those from Dorchester and the nearby district who were due to be confirmed at Salisbury Cathedral today.

THE congregation of St John’s Church, Greenhill, Weymouth will gather for morning worship at 10.30am tomorrow at the Park Church Centre, Chelmsford Street. St John’s Church’s 9am service will still take place in a side room at the church. Those attending the 10.30am service are asked to leave their cars at St John’s Church, from which a ‘shuttle service’ to Chelmsford Street is running.

A JAZZ concert will begin at St John’s Church hall in Ventnor Road, Portland at 7.30pm on Friday in aid of the island’s Open Arms project for young people. Tickets are £5 each and are available by calling 01305 820103.

A SPECIAL gathering of the Friends of Cathedral Music will enjoy a performance by the boy choristers of Salisbury Cathedral next Saturday (17). Contact the cathedral for more information. The cathedral’s Epiphany procession, the third and final of its popular processional services, will take place next Sunday (18) at 7pm.

THE proceeds of a Christmas Tree festival run in aid of local charities at Weymouth’s Hope Church will be presented to charity representatives during a special ceremony at 10.30am next Sunday (18).

CHURCHES Together on Portland members are encouraging people to take part in the week of prayer for Christian unity, which begins next Sunday (18) and will run until Sunday, January 25.
