A WEYMOUTH church more than 500 years old has held its first ever tea and toast morning.

Thanks to a newly-fitted kitchen, the congregation of All Saints' Church, Wyke Regis were able to have an early morning cuppa in comfort.

The Rev Deb Smith said she wanted to make the new event a permanent feature now the church, built in 1455, had the right facilities.

She said: "We've always had services at 8am and 9.30am but the people from the early service always miss the people from the later one.

"Doing this once a month will be a really sociable way for people to get to know each other and give them a bit of energy before or after their service.

"We had a new kitchen fitted which we weren't using quite as well as we could, but now we are.

"This is the first time we've been able to do something like this in this church and I think it went really well."
