VILLAGERS in Dorset enjoyed traditional Ugandan fare and helped raise money for a well project in the process.
Pennie Bongamin, originally from Nagongera village, visited West Stafford for the meal, which was held to raise money to construct a well for Nagongera and five other nearby villages.
Event organiser Maureen Shaw said everybody enjoyed the food and the event, which helped raise £500.
The Ugandan menu included a spicy beef casserole called Ringo, spiced chicken (Gweno Makuri), a split bean and pigeon pea stew, green vegetables in a peanut sauce (Fufagi Odi Maido), Ugandan-style chapatis and Matoke, a dish of steamed green plantains.
Mrs Bongamin also gave a talk about her village and a quiz, revolving around water-based questions, was also run.
A raffle with a joke prize of a bottle of West Stafford tap water and a serious one of a £10 Waitrose voucher was also held.
