The Rev Paul Arnold and David Coren on the walk of witness through Dorchester
HUNDREDS of Christians took part in walks of witness throughout the county to mark the start of the Easter weekend.
An open-air service in Weymouth followed the coming together of three walks in which crosses were carried from St Nicholas Church, St Joseph's Church and St John's Church to the town centre.
In Dorchester, Christians walked from the United Church, South Street to St George's Church, Fordington, led by the Rev Harold Stephens.
In Portland, Christians
will meet to see the sunrise early on Easter morning
and at East Pier in West
Bay, Bridport, Christians will also meet for a
sunrise service at 6am tomorrow.
The Weymouth service was led by the Rev Pip Salmon, of St Mary's Church and Emmanuel Church, Weymouth, and organised by the Rev Jim Thorneycroft of the United Reformed Church, Radipole.
The service included a performance of part of the Easter story involving Pilate being forced by the crowd to wash his hands of Jesus and put him to death.

Mr Thorneycroft said: "We're always trying something different at this time of year because it is the same story, but we're trying to bring it across in a different way.
"The dramatic piece tried to look at what was going through the mind of Pilate when he washed his hands of Jesus."
