  • PURBECK Village Quire will perform this evening in St Martin's Church, Broadmayne, near Dorchester from 7.30pm onwards.

    The event will include performances of local church and folk music to mark the seasons of the year. Tickets are £6 each and available from the Corner House Stores or by calling Anne on 01305 853074 or Eleanor on 01305 853765. All proceeds from the event will go to the church.

  • CHICKERELL Methodist Church will celebrate its chapel anniversary on Sunday at 10.30am.

    At 4pm in the chapel an exhibition of photographs and documents outlining its history will begin. Refreshments will also be available.

    At 6.30pm there will be Sunday school songs of praise with hymns and songs that used to be sung in the 1940s and 1950s.

  • A TAIZÉ service with the theme of celebrating life will begin at St Mary's Church, Dorchester, at 6pm tomorrow. All are welcome.

  • A FAIR with stalls selling apple cake and tea will begin at St Aldhelm's Church, Weymouth on Thursday (8) from 3pm to 4.15pm in aid of Christian Aid week. Entry to the event costs £2.

  • A SEMINAR at Dorchester Baptist Church, Bridport Road, entitled "Europe - hope for the poor?" will be chaired by the Bishop of Sherborne, The Rt Rev Tim Thornton, on Friday (9) from 7pm to 9pm. The discussion will focus on the question of the role of the European Union in assisting the world's poor.

    Speakers will include Graham Watson, MEP for South West England, and Simon Giarchi, regional co-ordinator for the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development. The event is free to attend but donations made will go to CAFOD.

  • A BATTLE of the wits' quiz night will begin at St Nicholas' Church, Weymouth at 7pm this Friday (9).

  • A COFFEE morning will be held for Christian Aid at Hope Church, Weymouth on Friday (9) from 10am to 11.30am.
