Live theatre in the hall this Saturday
THIS coming Saturday, February 9 sees live theatre at the village hall with an Artsreach production at 7.30pm.
We welcome the Boiling Kettle Theatre Company who will be presenting The Mad Woman in the Attic, in which a granny gets to grip with new technology and produces some surprising results.
Set in a rural community in Somerset, this humorous, poignant play challenges preconceptions about senior citizens in a world dominated by youth culture.
It will strike a chord with anyone who is going grey, or is grey, and will give their younger friends and relations a new perspective!
A recent review noted: "Sally Sanders, as Pat, held the audience enthralled. If you have the chance to see this great play do not miss it!"
Please book tickets in advance by ringing Sue or Bryan on 01305 286156. They cost £6 adults and £5 under-18s.
The first Moviola film for 2008 is on Saturday, February 16 at 7.30pm in the village hall.
It will be that highly successful film Ratatouille and this column will remind you about it next week. Reserve the date and please ring and book your tickets on the above number.
This is very important as the January Moviola did not take place as only two tickets had been reserved just two days before the show and 35 people are needed to break even so Moviola agreed to cancel.
The village hall is not keen on making a loss on these showings so please ring and book. Normally the films are very popular indeed.
The Sureline Bus Company which runs the village bus service from Monday to Friday has published a new timetable which is printed in the Chalkstream magazine and is advertised on noticeboards.
Route 212 does have some improvements for the village with the appearance of the letter 's' against some journeys. This means that noon, 2pm, 3.40pm and 5.50pm buses from Trinity Street will come into the village on request to the driver when boarding the bus.
The 12.55 from Trinity street comes into the village in any case.
It is worth noting too that afternoon buses from Yeovil will also come into the village if requested. Many services now operate to and from Weymouth so do have a good look at the timetable as the principle is 'use it or lose it'!
