Lots of events coming up in village

THE next Friday market will be held in St Martin's Church Hall from 2pm to 3.30pm on Friday, March 28.

Cakes, local trout, sausages and eggs, preserves, craft, books and jigsaws will be on sale.

For further information contact Sylvia Dooley 01305 852886.

  • IF YOU wish to know the results of the Broadmayne and West Knighton Sports Facility questionnaire, please make a note that the Annual Parish Meeting will be held in Broadmayne Village Hall on Monday, March 31 at 7.30pm.

  • THE AGM of the village hall committee will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 7.30pm in Broadmayne Village Hall.

Local residents would be most welcome.

  • IN BROADMAYNE Village Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday, April 5, Trilith presents Dorset on Film.

Drawing on an extensive stock of archive cine-film from the early 1900s to the 1960s, and using the latest in digital projection, you will see images of the past that are both entertaining and thought provoking for the present generation.

This is an invaluable and irreplaceable archive for the people of Dorset. Tickets at £6, or £5 for under 18s, are available from The Corner House Stores, Richard Lawson on 01305 854205 or on the door if available.

  • AT THE last WI meeting, Steve Stone, from The Donkey Sanctuary, stepped into the breach to talk about the donkeys, as Mr and Mrs Polley, the scheduled speakers, were, at the last minute, unable to come.

The astonishing facts that Steve told members about the animals and their care, and the facilities that are at Sidmouth, kept everyone's interest while the talk went way past the allotted time.

Jo Holdsworth, in thanking Mr Stone on members' behalf, said his talk had made her laugh and cry, which reflected the real insight into his work.

It was felt that this first time' as a speaker on the subject will not be his last.

Next month, there is a change to the programme. David Price-Hughes will now be coming in May, so, very kindly, Roger Gould with Rebecca Murphy have agreed to be with us on Thursday, April 10 to talk about the History of the Goulds.

The meeting will begin at 7pm.
