Chantmarle's liicence fails to win parish support
A MEETING of the Frome Valley Parish Council was held in the Savill Hall, Cattistock.
During the democratic period the main topic discussed was the variation to the licence for the Christian Resource Centre at Chantmarle.
Several residents from the area attended the meeting and also an officer from the licensing department at the district council, who explained exactly what was being applied for.
The officer stated that the application was for entertainment (live music and dancing) - there was already a liquor licence granted.
The residents felt that in the light of the previous history of the nuisance to the community, the applicant in his application has offered no proposals to prevent future public nuisance.
While the application states that the entertainment would be confined to inside the permanent buildings, these activities would for the most part take place during the summer months, when windows and doors are likely to be open and it is felt that this noise nuisance would continue.
In the light of the comments expressed the parish council felt it was unable to support the application.
The parish council was advised that 12 volunteers have now completed their registration forms to be first responders.
They now have to be CRB checked and interviewed by South Western Ambulance Service Trust. It is envisaged that training will take place in February.
Mrs Sennett advised the council that grants and fundraising activities were in hand in respect of the £63K needed to refurbish the playing field.
The Cattistock community space committee were very optimistic that this figure will be reached.
It was reported that the parish plan is now at its final stage before publishing.
It was confirmed that there was no need for Listed Building Consent in respect of the cut-in step in the front of the Savill Hall.
The wall is made of re-constructed stone.
It was agreed to set up a web page for the parish council in line with other councils in the area.

Mr Atkins reported on the disappointing response to the petition which had been set up to establish a reasonable service from the BBC on both radio and television in this area.
Out of the 25,000 signatures expected only 400 were gained. MP Oliver Letwin will be arranging more meetings with the BBC.
The next meeting of the Frome Valley Parish Council is Monday, March 31.
There will be a coffee morning at The Forge in Cattistock on February 24.
The event is in aid of church funds and will include stalls such as bring and buy, cakes and produce.
We hope that this event will be well supported.
On February 27, also at the Forge, Cattistock the second of the Lent Lunches for Cattistock will take place.
Lunches of soup and bread will be available between noon and 1.30pm
Shayna continues to make good progress and already, after the first of her operations, the physical changes are quite remarkable.
She is thrilled with the result and is gaining in confidence daily.
We would like to give advance notice of Children of Fiji's next fundraising event.
This will be a quiz in the Fox and Hounds on March 28. Everyone is welcome.
Please give Neil and Roma a call on 01300 320842 to find out more or ask at the Fox and Hounds.
