Tower of Strength for Cattistock First Responders

6:21pm Thursday 10th July 2008

REPRESENTATIVES of Cattistock First Responders were busy counting money in the Fox and Hounds on the evening of Wednesday, July 9.

Scott and Liz, the new tenants of the pub, aided and abetted by Sue behind the bar, had been encouraging customers to help build a tower of 50p pieces.

When all the money had been counted, there was an amazing total of £150.

Julian English, Chairman of Cattistock First Responders, commented: "This is a fantastic sum. Our thanks go to Scott and Liz and especially Sue, who can be very persuasive!

Thanks to help from POPP, the Parish Council and the British Heart Foundation, we have raised enough money to buy the defibrillator, but now face the long haul to raise enough money to buy a dedicated 4 x 4 vehicle for our team of volunteers to drive to emergencies."

A new tower of 50p pieces has already started, so do donate to this extremely worthy and life-saving cause.
