Pam's Party raises the roof!

12:45am Friday 22nd August 2008

DESPITE the inclement weather, plenty of people turned up for Pam's recent Garden Party (which had to move from the garden into the village hall!) and a good time was had by all. Thanks go to all those who helped out on the day and came along to support the event. As a result, well over £400 was raised for church funds.

  • FOLLOWING the success of the March Pie Night and by popular demand, there will be another Pie Night in Rampisham on Saturday, September 6, so try to keep this date free for a pub night with a difference.
  • COME along and find yourself a bargain at the New to You sale in Maiden Newton Village Hall on Saturday, September 13, starting at 2pm. There will be refreshments for sale, as well as a raffle, cake and other stalls, and a Teddy and Friends tombola!
  • ANYONE wishing to join the St. Mary's Church Youth Club in Maiden Newton should contact Angie on 01300 320885 or Sue on 01300 320208. Alternatively, come along to one of the meetings and find out more about what goes on. The club meets on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 until 9pm. The cost is only £1 and membership is open to anyone in school year 6 or above.
  • ANOTHER very exciting outing has been organised for Ivy Club members. This time it is a trip to Tiverton and a horse-drawn barge on Tuesday, September 2. Those who are booked in on this trip should be reminded that the coach leaves at 9am.
  • MOST people in Cattistock are probably aware that the Savill Hall has been undergoing major changes with the installation of a newly fitted kitchen. The improved facilities fully comply with catering standards and will make a huge difference to future village hall events. To mark the opening of the new kitchen, a coffee morning has been organised for Saturday, September 6 between 10.30 and 12. There will be a bring and buy stall, as well as a raffle and various other stalls. The entrance cost will be 50p and all proceeds will go to hall funds.
  • THE DORSET Historic Churches Trust has given generous grants to many churches in Dorset to help with upkeep and essential repairs. On Saturday, September 13 you are invited to take part in the Great Cycle Ride to raise money for the Trust or alternatively for a church of your choice. The route will take you around some of Dorset's beautiful and historic churches and chapels, so the event should prove very interesting, as well as a way of keeping fit and raising money for a good cause. To obtain a sponsorship form or simply to find out more about the event, please contact Nicola on 01300 320671 or Rosemary on 01300 320471.
