	WE ARE still very busy in Fiji, carrying out charity work across the islands. Last week we were helping out at the hospital on the island of Taveuni and visiting schools on Ovalau and Moturiki Islands. Earlier this week we were on the island of Beqa to deliver much needed basic resources to schools. Then our presence was requested at the official opening of our recent sanitation and fresh water project in Rakiraki on the main island of Viti Levu - lots of ceremony, garlanding, speeches and a huge feast of fish! Nevertheless, we have not forgotten the people of Dorset and are continuing to keep you informed of events in our area.

THE NEW 2008-09 Saturday Football season in Maiden Newton is about to begin. Training resumes on Saturday, September 13 at the Youth Centre and is open to girls and boys between the ages of 5 and 16. Under 6's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the whole session. Registration will take place from 9 - 9.30am and then there will be training until 11am. If you would like to register early or ask for more information, please call Mike on 01300 321202 or email michael.trew745@btinternet.com The total cost for the whole season is only £15, but in order to be able to play you must have football boots, shin pads, a drinks bottle and trainers. There is a range of second hand football boots for sale at very reasonable rates (sizes 3, 5 and 5 are available at present). Water bottles and shin pads are also available. Any interested young people should come along on September 13. You don't need to be good at football - the whole idea is to have fun. If you are unsure, you can try the first session for free and decide afterwards if you want to join the club.

	Pam's Party raises the roof!

	DESPITE the inclement weather, plenty of people turned up for Pam's recent Garden Party (which had to move from the garden into the village hall!) and a good time was had by all. Thanks go to all those who helped out on the day and came along to support the event. As a result, well over £400 was raised for church funds.

	THE WEATHER stayed fine, winds were light and at exactly 4pm on Saturday, July 12 (to the strains of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture) all eyes were turned skywards to marvel at the spectacular sight of over 1,300 coloured balloons (all completely bio-degradable) being released.
