Traffic disruption has been kept to a minimum, due to skilful management.
White line painting has been carried out at night and the whole project will be finished by next weekend.
Tim Norman of Dorset Works is happy to have received favourable comments on the way these works have been planned and carried out.
All those Dorset County Council staff involved in the resurfacing, are pleased that their efforts to minimise disruption due to the scheme appear to have paid off.
This is especially so as they had to cope with the added complication of the Preston Road water main bursting during the middle of the workswhich delayed progress for a time.
Forty-six people enjoyed last month's St. Aldhelm's Church midweek lunch, which raised £91 for Weldmar Hospice.
Thanks were expressed to all who helped with and supported the event.
The next St. Aldhelm's midweek lunch will be held in the church lounge on Wednesday, May 14 at 12.30pm.
ST JOHN'S School headteacher Diana Mason has written her first newsletter expressing her thanks for the support received for the school's Easter Service at the Church.
It had been good to see so many parents, grandparents and friends.
The senior pupils had enjoyed singing in the musical With You Always.
The retiring collection at the church raised £70 in aid of Wiru Primary School in Kenya.
The school has recently made some new appointments and a warm welcome is extended to the staff.
Mrs Mason reports on the progress of the school pond.
The fluctuating levels of the water have given a few problems and therefore extra work will need to be done to address this.
Another PTA venture that they are hoping to put in place next term is the shelter in the lower playground.
There have been numerous discussions about what we should do but the PTA have decided that they should put some sails' up in order to give shelter, colour and shade.
They will see how they are received by the children and ask the School Council to evaluate their success.
The RSPB group worked with the school's "Artwarblers" and erected a reed shelter in the pond area with year five children.
The Artwarblers have also had an exhibition in Weymouth Library.
Mrs Nason said: "Well done and thanks to all the Artwarblers and to Mrs Dukes and Mrs Kennedy for organising this creative club."
This Saturday, May 10 St. John's School PTA will be holding a car boot sale at the school from 10am to noon. Those wishing to book a pitch should telephone 750278.
