LYNNE Stockwell has sent through news and a photo from the local Slimming World Group.
Members of Littlemoor Slimming World Group recently raised funds for the NSPCC Defeat Bullying campaign by wearing their slippers, socks, or other unusual footwear to their group. One member even turned up in his diving flippers! Each member made a donation towards the campaign and a total of £60 was raised. For more information on joining the Slimming World group which meets at St Francis of Assissi on Tuesdays at 5.30pm and 7pm please call Lynne on 01305 772509.
Bincombe Valley Primary School recently participated in the Walk to School Week and Mrs Masino's class were this year's winners of the Golden Boot Award, which I'm assured is highly sought after each year. It also seems that due to demand, more cycle racks are now being put up by Mr. Shutts.
On the run up to Christmas there are always lots of events going on in the area and this year seems to be busier than usual.
Bincombe Valley Primary School has a very busy programme starting on Tuesday 11th December at 1.30pm, when the Infant Nativity will be performed in the school hall at 1.30pm. This is followed by the second performance of the nativity play on Wednesday, December 12 at 10am and at 1.30pm Class 8 will be visiting St Francis Church to sing carols to the Seniors Group. On Thursday, December 13 at 10am, the Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1 children will be visiting St Francis Church for a Christingle service. On Monday, December 17 at 11am you can join class 5 when they will be singing carols at Goulds Garden Centre and if you can't make that date you can always join in with the Junior Carol Concert at St Francis Church on Tuesday, December 18 at 9.30am. Also on Tuesday are the ever popular and much loved Carols round the Christmas tree in the school hall with refreshments to follow. There is another chance to catch up with the children on Wednesday, December 19 when Class 5 and Class 10 will be singing carols at Brewers Quay in Hope Square at 11am. Also on the 19th the school will be hosting the PTFA Christmas Bingo which always proves very popular.
Doors open at 6pm and it's eyes down at 6.30pm.
The Christmas raffle will also be drawn during the evening.
Talking about bingo, don't forget that the LCAG will be holding their Christmas bingo on Friday, December 14 at the Community Hall, Canberra Road. doors open at 7pm for eyes down at 7.30pm. A warm welcome will be extended to all.
On Sunday, December 16 the St Francis Sunday School will be performing a Nativity Play during the service. Breakfast will be served at 9-30am and the service will start at 10-15am.
This will be followed by a Christmas lunch (adults only) that needs to booked in advance. If you would like to join in with the lunch after the service you can call Lorraine Dobbins on 01305 835921 to book.
