Memories of a Spitfire pilot
THE next meeting of the South Dorset Group, Somerset & Dorset Family History Society will be on Wednesday, April 9 at 7.30pm at St. Francis Church Hall, Littlemoor.
All are welcome. Society members are available to give help and advice on family history during refreshments at the end of the meeting.
For the February meeting society member Alan Brown presented Harold Orchard: Spitfire pilot.
Sgt. Pilot Harold Orchard, Royal Air Force, was one of the few in the Battle of Britain. He was born at Chapelhay, Weymouth and attended Central School, Westham.
The group meets the second Wednesday of the month and further information is available on the website www.sdfhs.org/Sdorset/contents.htm.
A NEW card-making group will be starting up on Monday, April 14 at the Community Centre, Canberra Road from 12.30pm until 2.30pm.
This will be a weekly drop in group, suitable for all ages and abilities.
The cost will be £2 per session which will include materials and refreshments. Run by members of the craft group, this will be a lovely opportunity to try out several new card making skills as well as many of the old tried and tested ones.
All are welcome to join in and it doesn't matter if you have never made a card before or are an experienced card maker.
It doesn't even matter where you live, if you can get there we would love to meet you.
If you would like any further details just call Jan on 01305 834126 or turn up on a Monday and join in!
