Let's get area blooming again
DURING last summer the Park District was a very colourful area and our thanks go to all the residents who made such an effort.
It is surprising what a difference flowers make to the area.
The forum would also like to thank our judge Jack Sargent accompanied By Coun Joy Stanley, who must have had a very difficult task.
Certificates will be awarded at our AGM, and we look forward to seeing all the winners there, a full list is printed in the Newsletter, and we wish you good luck for this year's competition.
A SPECIAL community award has been awarded to Brian Coomber, for all his efforts in Chelmsford Street, The Railway Wall in Ranelagh road and the Railway Station.
Of course we hope to put up the hanging baskets, depending on the new Lampposts, and the Build outs will be replanted.
If there are any budding Gardeners out there who would like to give us a hand please contact 839579
THE community forum is holding its AGM on Friday, April 4 at the Park Community Centre, Chelmsford Street at 7pm.
All residents of the area are invited to attend and take part. This year has been a difficult year - when we closed the Resource Centre in Ranelagh Road, we made the big decision to take over the Park Community Centre in Chelmsford Street.
As with all charities we need more committee members and volunteers to help out at the community centre.
If anyone is interested please feel free to call me on 07971 716254.
The forum has been very active in hosting quite a few new organisations, and new activities see below for further details.
We have plans for computing classes in conjunction with Age Concern, and all these who registered will be contacted shortly.
Did you know that the community centre has internet access available for a very reasonable rate, far less than the commercial concerns.
OUR short mat bowls club is still meeting every Tuesday evening from 6.45pm and is very successful.
There is still room for more players so come along they are a very friendly group, and it does not mater if you have not played before, help is at hand
for the artistic persons in the area.
We have an art class every Thursday from 10am until 12pm at the community centre and I know that Angela our new teacher would be only too pleased to help you join in. No need to book, just turn up.
ALSO on a Thursday from, 2.30pm until 4.30pm we hold a card making group.
It is your opportunity to make that special card for that special person and occasion.
ONE of the new activities in the community centre is a six-week course called Stretch, Breathe, and Relax starting on Monday, April 7 from 9.30 until 10.45 with a free taster session.
THE forum is also running a quiz at the Somerset Hotel, Queen Street, thanks to John and Sue, on Thursday, April 17.
Why not get a team of four together and come along for a great night. Entry £5 a team plus a raffle.
