Putting the fun into fundraising
 |
| St Peter's Fun' Raising Comittee. Liz Draper, Di Ludlow, Anne Elwin, Hilary Morley at the Crafty Christmas Tea Party |
ST PETER'S Fundraising Committee decided some time ago to drop the D from fundraising and put fun in.
So to follow the Party in the Pub in June and Fete in August there was a Christmas Tea Party on November 25.
It was a happy afternoon with a steady flow of people enjoying tea and mince pies and raised £546 for church funds.
The organisers would like to thank all those who helped during the afternoon.
The next fun raising will be a fish and chip supper in January.
The Christmas card from the churches should be delivered to all homes soon giving details of all services over Christmas but there is one date not mentioned there. On Friday, December 14 at 7pm you are invited to sing carols around the pond followed by mince pies with the Jeffcott family, there will be a collection taken for the Children's Society.
I was delighted to see that Vicky Prior, headteacher of Portesham School, was voted Teacher of the Year at the Dorset Echo and Wessex FM People Awards. She was nominated by one of the children at the school for the special ongoing care given by Vicky and all the staff in coping with a serious medical condition.
"I am a normal little girl all because Mrs Prior went above the call of duty."
Congratulations, Vicky - a very well deserved award.
Isn't it good to hear the church clock chiming again? Thanks to the anonymous benefactor who paid for the work to be done.
