Action group praises road calming
 |
| WE'VE DONE IT: Residents gather (safely) at the roadblock |
FOLLOWING four years of sustained campaigning and support from the Echo, road calming measures are being installed in Radipole village.
It is hoped that the steps will bring an end to the Radipole rat run.
Temporary closure of the road has brought bliss to the village and an opportunity for local residents to gather on the Victorian bridge.
The campaign has been supported by the Echo and local councillors.
Retired councillor, Alderman Andy Hutchins advised campaigners throughout.
Despite recent criticism, council staff have worked hard to provide a sympathetic and safe solution to one of the area's most dangerous roads.
Colin Graham deserves a special mention for his professionalism and commitment to the project.
The objective has always been to reduce the volume and speed of traffic travelling down this narrow country lane.
The introduction of priorities, footpaths and a pedestrian refuge will mean the Radipole route will no longer be a fast option for irresponsible motorists. It is hoped that the Radipole initiative can be introduced to other deserving areas around the borough to provide a safer environment, generally, for all.
