Concert changed at short notice
THE programme at Southill's Emmanuel Church for Kath Snelling's Musica Spei concert had to be changed at very short notice, when visas were withdrawn from three Russian musicians.
This Wednesday (7) the programme of music, information about Crescendo and some prayer was to go ahead despite the absence of the three Russian musicians who had had their exit visas refused at the last minute.
This had been such a shame, as a lot of effort had gone into arranging their visit.
A TABLE top sale will be held at Southill's Emmanuel Church on Saturday, April 19.
Admission to the sale, which is open from 2pm to 4pm, is 20p.
To book a table at £5, call 01305 772761
The story of the British Post Office - an illustrated, light-hearted talk on the history of the post office - is to be presented to the Friday Night Friends this Friday at St Aldhelm's Church lounge starting at 7.30pm.
As usual, visitors will be welcome to this friendly gathering.
AT LAST the hazardous tree stumps that have been a dangerous feature for pedestrians in Icen Road have been removed.
Horse chestnut trees are not the ideal species, as they require severe pruning and their rootes spread, causing damage to the pavement, which creates problems for walkers and wheel chairs.
The choice for replacements are silver birch, which will enhance the pleasant appearance in the area and will be a lot easier to maintain.
