Village has new events notice board

Tolpuddle

• A NEW village notice board has been provided by the Puddletown area parish council.

It is situated opposite the Martyrs' Inn, and is available for all Tolpuddle residents to use.

Preference will be given to notices of events in Tolpuddle or Southover and Puddletown, and then other surrounding areas if the board fills up completely.

Please punch holes in any notice to be displayed, as pins or tacks, etc, are not acceptable.

There are hooks inside the notice board on which to hand posters or notices.

• A MEETING has been held in the village hall to see whether there is sufficient interest to form a committee to run a small vegetable and flower show next year, with a view to making this an annual event.

• SOUP and sweet lunches will resume on Friday, October 17, and will continue on the third Friday of each month in the village hall from noon until 1.30pm.

The menu will consist of homemade soup will a roll, followed by a choice of desserts, tea and coffee.

The cost of this is only £3.50, and profits go to St John's church.

• EVERYONE is welcome to come along to the coffee club.(Tea is also available) the group meets at the Martyrs' Inn on Tuesdays at 11am and at the village hall on Thursdays, again at 11am.

It is an excellent way to meet people and have a chat.

It only costs 50p for coffee or tea, with as many refills as you like.

The group is also planning occasional trips out.

• HAVE you joined the Martyrs' Inn dining club?

Six dining visits equals your average table spend, and this is deducted from your seventh dining visit.

Call in for your membership card.

Sunday roasts have now started for the winter at £10 for one course and £14 for two courses, and they count towards the Martyrs' Inn dining club.

Bere Regis

• There will be a table top sale at the Drax Hall on Saturday, November 8 from 10am until noon.

• AS IN past years, the parish council has agreed to provide Christmas trees for display in the village.

Trees are provided to properties, and residents agree to have them illuminated and on public display throughout December.

This has worked extremely well in the past, and many favourable comments have been received.
