SCHOOLBOY Adam Greaves will be making waves next year on a Tall Ship adventure thanks to a trio of sponsorship boosts.
The Royal Manor student has been overwhelmed with generous donations since appealing in the Dorset Echo for support to undertake the cross-Channel voyage on Weymouth’s Tall Ship Pelican.
He has been presented with a £50 cheque from Erika Patterson on behalf of Westham Community Group, plus £50 from generous Echo reader Richard Smith from Dorchester and £450 from an anonymous benefactor and contributions from family and friends.
Westham Community Group described Greaves, who volunteers at the sailing academy, as a ‘leading light’ and said they hoped a talk from him about his voyage at a later date would inspire Westham youngsters.
Geaves, 15, of Southwell, said: “I feel honoured to receive the money from the Westham Community Group and everyone else who has donated.
“The money will be used to help out with the associated costs of my trip.”
